Core concepts

Commands, ticker search, panes, layouts, local state, Cloud, brokers, and data status.

The short version

Panes hold one thing each. Commands create and control panes. Layouts group panes for a job. The command bar runs commands and also finds instruments.

Panes

A pane is one focused view: ticker overview, chart, news feed, portfolio, note, trade ticket, plugin view.

A pane can be docked in the layout grid, floating above it, or popped out to a native window (desktop). It can be bound to a ticker, follow another pane, or stand alone. Pane shortcuts act on the focused pane.

Layouts

A layout is an arrangement of panes for a recurring job (Morning Market, AAPL Research). It saves as you change it.
