Troubleshooting

Fix launch, command, data, chart, layout, account, and broker problems by symptom.

Quick check

Symptom	First action
Will not launch	`gloomberb version`, then `gloomberb doctor`.
Command missing	`HELP`, then `gloomberb plugin list`.
Pane blank	Read its status, press `r`.
Data delayed	Check the pane entitlement and lightning toggle.
Layout lost	`LAY`, then `GL`.

Will not launch

Bad CPU type in executable on macOS: an Intel Mac running the Apple Silicon app. Delete /Applications/Gloomberb.app and rerun curl -fsSL gloom.sh/install | bash for the Intel terminal build.
gloomberb doctor shows runtime errors.
Update with the same method you installed with. See Install and update.

Command missing

Commands: Cmd/Ctrl+K or Ctrl+P. Backtick is tickers only.
Search the command name if you forgot the prefix.
HELP in the app, gloomberb help in a shell.
Plugin command: gloomberb plugin list. Plugin missing: gloomberb plugin doctor <name-or-path>, see Plugins.
Some commands need a ticker: GP AAPL, not GP.

Wrong company in ticker search

The same symbol exists on several exchanges. Check name, type, and exchange before Enter. Search the full company name when a symbol is ambiguous.

Pane blank or data missing

Wait for loading to finish, then r.
Read the status: delayed, stale, error, or auth.
gloomberb provider status lists enabled providers.
Check the pane supports the instrument. SEC filings cover supported US securities only.
Hosted panes may need login, verification, or an entitlement.

Delayed, not live

Delayed is normal on Free; Pro is live where the pane supports it. Check the lightning toggle is on.

Chart or terminal graphics

Use Ghostty, Kitty, or WezTerm.
Enlarge the window, refresh the pane.
0 in a focused chart resets the viewport.
CR cycles the chart renderer: Auto, Kitty, Braille.

Pane or layout disappeared

Tab / Shift+Tab: it may be open but unfocused.
LAY or Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 to switch to the right layout.
GL to tile what is visible.
Cmd/Ctrl+Alt+W closes floating panes covering the workspace.

Deleting a layout does not delete portfolios, watchlists, or notes.

Search Log In; confirm the account is verified.
ACM shows profile and plan.

Broker data or trading

BR checks the connection before IBKR.
Cloud login and broker authorization are separate.
Market data, account sync, and order authorization can fail independently.
Review the account and the order preview before submitting. Never test with a real order.

Report a problem

Send Feedback from the status bar, FB, or Help. It attaches the app version, scrubbed logs, and an optional screenshot, and works signed out. Or open an issue in the tracker.
