Government awards
AWARDS: public contracts, modifications and subcontractors mapped to verified listed companies.
AWARDS opens the government contracts feed. AWARDS LMT selects a company. Pro includes filters, company history, agency concentration, sector rankings, revenue comparisons and preserved revisions. Everyone can see a fixed three-row preview.
Amounts retain their published currency. USD, EUR, GBP and other currencies never contribute to the same total. A company receives a ticker only after an exact identifier or verified legal-name match. Unresolved recipients retain their original name. Subsidiaries roll up only when a verified mapping establishes the parent.
Reading the values
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Award value | The source's face value for an award, or the signed action amount on a modification. |
| Obligated | Funds committed to a prime award to date. It can be lower than the award ceiling. |
| Ceiling | The maximum potential contract value, including options when the source includes them. It is not committed revenue. |
| Cumulative obligations | Running obligations grouped by award date for the selected currency and record type. It is not a company's reported order backlog. |
| Revenue comparison | Award value divided by a same-currency annual revenue figure available before the award date. The annual period and filing link accompany the ratio. |
Prime awards, subcontractor awards, procurement notices and transaction modifications are separate record types. They must not be added together: a subaward can already be included in the prime, and transaction changes can already be included in its lifetime obligation. Negative modification values represent deobligations. A prime award found by a fiscal-year activity search can have an earlier start date and lifetime values spanning several years; fiscal spending uses transaction dates and action amounts.
The history chart is a view of the collected records, not a reconstruction of what a user could have known on each historical day. Revised totals can change it. Evidence preserves earlier versions and their observation dates instead of silently replacing them.
The sector view ranks companies within each procurement classification and also shows classification totals. Rankings remain separate by source, currency and record type. Cancelled awards stay in the evidence ledger but leave financial totals. Events require a prime award face value of at least 1% of dated annual revenue; cumulative US obligations and ceilings cannot create a new award event.
Sources and coverage
USAspending provides US prime contract awards, transactions and subawards through its public API and bulk exports. The EU TED search API, UK Contracts Finder and Find a Tender OCDS feeds, and Canadian federal proactive disclosures provide published procurement records. Different thresholds, reporting delays and disclosure rules make these portals incomplete measures of government demand. An empty result does not establish that a company has no public contracts.
SAM opportunities require an API key and are disabled without one. The defense announcement article pages were inaccessible during verification. Their official RSS supplies evidence-only notices; no recipient or amount is inferred from an inaccessible article. The backend source status reports collection progress and errors; incomplete backfill windows remain incomplete until every page has been processed.
Structured source fields are normalized deterministically. Currency, dates, recipient, agency, classification and place of performance remain source-specific facts. Corrections create preserved revisions. Primary-source links appear in the evidence view; text-derived facts require a literal supported quote.
Related research and commands
Use DES for the company, FA and SEG for financial statements and revenue, G for its chart, SPLC for disclosed customer and supplier relationships, and the calendar for dated events. A government contract is evidence of a government-customer relationship; it does not by itself establish recognized revenue.
| Surface | Example |
|---|---|
| Pane | AWARDS, AWARDS LMT |
| Headless | gloomberb fn AWARDS LMT --json |
| REST | GET /cloud/awards?ticker=LMT¤cy=USD |
| Evidence | GET /cloud/awards/detail/{id} |
| MCP | company.awards, company.award_evidence |
REST uses the account's normal Pro entitlement. MCP follows its existing Pro account-key access rules. Reading the pane or API never starts a source collection.
